Description
Hand-painted oak leaves and acorns glass panel with light orange background, inspired by the beautiful Somerset woodland near Frome. Makes a great autumn-inspired gift for a birthday or anniversary. Made from fused glass, free-standing with a curved shape.
The panel looks especially effective in front of a light source it and, being curved, you could place a tea light behind it. The appearance and colours of this piece vary according to the light and time of day.
I created an original design for this piece, using an English oak branch which I found on a walk with my dog. I started with a clear piece of glass and coloured this lightly with pumpkin orange glass powder and fired it for the first time. Then I added the colouring of the leaves and acorns using enamel glass paint and fired it again. Finally I added black enamel paint to outline the design and fired the piece once more.
